Okay, here we go...
So for the last 8 years I was Creekside Elementary School's Technology Instructional Assistant, where I developed and taught the technology curriculum to students in grades K - 5.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, I've decided to earn my single-subject teaching credential in mathematics from CSU East Bay. The program takes place online, and I am currently in the 2nd of three semesters. So far, I've managed to do pretty well in all the classes I've taken, but the workload is pretty high. I don't think I've ever written this many papers in my time getting my bachelor's degree at CSU Sacramento!
I've been told that this is a long time coming, and that I should've moved in this direction a long time ago. There is still a lot to overcome, with tests, and some live teaching under observation.
The reason why I'm writing in this Blog again is because I need to re-familiarize myself with this Google Product. I'm trying to get my Google Educator Certification (Level 2), and haven't used this in 10 years. I'll add more things to this particular blog, including some of the interactive lesson plans I've come up with, and a virtual classroom (also interactive) that I'm working on. I've begun my required e-portfolio (website) using Google Sites, and even helped many of my classmates get theirs started. Mine is pretty sweet - I just followed the example that my professor gave us, then added more to it, myself (check it out here and let me know what you think).
I'm still waiting to get my placement with a Cooperating Teacher - we are 6 weeks into the semester now, and I don't yet have the experience my peers are having. To be fair, I have spent the last 8 years in the classroom, so I'm not too worried about how I'll be in front of students again. Plus, I'm continuing to tutor students online, so this won't be much different from what I've been doing - only in greater quantities.
I'll continue to update my progress when I'm able to... hopefully it won't be 10 years later.
